My Journey to the Ironman
This is Rebecca and I in one of the four triathlons I have completed. I am blaming her for this rather crazy adventure of mine.
Rebecca
is one of my best friends. She was there with me from the initial diagnosis and has been one of my most amazing supporters
throughout my journey. She has also been my mentor, both personally and professionally. In fact, Rebecca was the one that
suggested we complete the Danskin Triathlon, which raises money for breast cancer research. So we did...three times. Then
we completed the Chicago Triathlon.
And then one day, sitting in my office, not bothering anyone, Rebecca came in and
began talking to me. In just ten minutes, she had me so inspired that I had agreed to join her in the Ironman! So you
see, this is all her fault!
So...just what is an Ironman? An Ironman Triathlon is a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile
bike ride, followed by a full 26 mile marathon. All in one day. Crazy? Yep! But I am ALIVE and strong!
And I want everyone to know that no matter what obstacle has been placed in front of you, you can still live your dreams! This
is why I am competing. I'm doing the hard part. Please join me by donating to my Survivor's Fund. My goal is to
raise $5000.00, because this my 5th year of being cancer free!
